Common lies of web hosting providers

Posted by: admin in About web hosting

Due to the drastic increase in the demand of web hosting services, countless private web hosting agencies are surfacing up in the market every other day. However, not all the web hosting agencies are reliable, and more often than not, you may fall prey to the unreliable web hosting providers. Not only is the internet flooded with these fake claims of the web hosts boasting of top notch services, but when it really comes to support, you don’t even get to hear back from them for several days too. Moreover, many of the unscrupulous web-hosting agencies pretend to provide 24/7 dedicated support. So, in order to check the real deal, you should try asking your host what is the average turn around time for reply of a simple mail, and how long you really need to hold on, before somebody answers your call.

There are several other common lies often told by the low-level web hosting providers who make some handy bucks by offering these services to the customers, but don’t really stand tall to their promises. Some of these false promises include unlimited hosting and download capacities, FTP accounts, SQL databases and free add-on domains. Nothing in this world is endless except the unheard and unknown things like the Bermuda triangle, but web hosting is by no means one of these areas. Every server has its limits and the number of web servers in any company is also quite obviously limited.

So, you must not really listen to such non-sense and rather concentrate on the specifics rather than the seemingly endless list of promises. Remember, when it comes to reality, you might have to face too many issues, which you might have never even heard of. This especially includes cases of website transfer, and every minute detail must be written in the service level agreement (SLA).

It doesn’t cost you anything to say that you’re working on something, but it takes a lot more to bring the same into effect. So, if your host says that they’re working on some of the features, which will be soon offered, free of cost, as a part of the current package that they’re offering you, never even bother to listen to such blunders.

Moving a website from another host to your web server is usually the responsibility of your web hosting agency, and this must be written officially in the SLA, as often these claims are just put up on the website that you visit, while purchasing the plan. But, after you’re through with the deal, and really need to get a site and domain transferred to your server, you might get a sweet apology from the support team of your host, politely stating that such actions are not their share of pain.

Lastly, when they offer premium services, they may call it dedicated hosting, yet offer you shared hosting, which is by no means literally dedicated. So beware of these common lies – if it sounds too good to be true, it always is!

You have to write about the poor support quality that we get for our precious dollars when we are trying to communicate with persons which hardly understand what we mean and when they understand they cant resolve our issue! This is happening because most of the big web hosting companies outsource their offered technical support to countries of the underdeveloped world. Imagine, that some web hosting providers outsource even their phone support! You are thinking that you are phoning to some Joe in Dallas and some other individual answers the call from the other edge of Earth. What can I say, capitalism at its best smilies/smiley.gif
