The hardware requirements involve a normal web server setup with a modern CPU of at least a 256 MB RAM. As is seen with all database-driven applications, always a higher RAM is advisable. TYPO3 4.2 specifically requires a 5.2 PHP and a MySQL 4.0. It is however recommended that a MySQL 4.1.18 or greater such as the MySQL 5 is utilized for a full utf-8 support.
