VBulletin hosting

VBulletin is a commercial Internet forum software produced by Jelsoft Enterprises and vBulletin Solutions. It was at first designed as a vbulletin-logorewrite of UBB classic of Infopop. The first paid version that is the vBulletin 1 was launched in the year 2000. This first version of the vBulletin went through a series of changes and after a complete rewrite the vBulletin 2 was released which was a competitive software solution for the forums. VBulletin achieved fame only after the release of this second version which became quite successful.

Since the release of vBulletin in 2000, this application has gone through a series of changes for the good. It has seen a lot of improvements. The latest version of vBulletin is the 4.1.4 which was released on 9th June 2011. VBulletin 1.1.0a had similar features as that of the UBB classic. Its development is no longer active. Initially it became popular as it was one of the first to be written using PHP and MySQL. VBulletin Lite was a trial version for customers to test their compatibility. It was a similar to the 1.x version but had minimalistic features. It was discontinued later on due to security issues. VBulletin 2.0.0 was released in 2001. VBulletin 2 is under development for only security updates. This version came in with many new features over and above the vBulletin 1. These added features included messaging between users, unlimited forum nesting, various new user avatars, user control panel and many more.

VBulletin 3.0.0 came out in 2004. Initially this version was supposed to be an extension of the previous version with enhanced performance and a better user experience. But then it went on to become a complete rewrite. The templates were upgraded to CSS and XHTML, multiple languages were supported, WYSIWYG editor was added, certain paid features were included, threads had multiple views etc. Even then there were a few drawbacks that the 2005 released vBulletin 3.5.0 addressed. The changes made included a plugin system that permitted modifications without editing the program scripts. AJAX made the editing of the post content as well as the thread titles possible. Third parties could integrate easily thanks to the API system. MySQLi wrapper which was added later on provided support for the MySQL 4.1.

vBulletin 3.6 introduced in 2006 came with even more features like the multi-quote system, automatic thread posting, infractions system, RSS feeds announcements, podcasting support etc. The later newer versions; the vBulletin 3.7, vBulletin 3.8 and the vBulletin 3.8.7 also came with an array of new features. These features made the forums even more user friendly and gave various options for customization and a better security. The vBulletin 4 was released in December, 2009. New for vBulletin 4 is the publishing suite and includes content management systems and many other blog functions. Apart from this there are other updates such as the content search system, search engine optimization etc.
